Custom stickers: roll labels vs die-cut singles vs sheets
"Custom stickers" can mean three different products with different prices and use cases. Picking wrong means either paying twice as much or getting the wrong format for the job.
Roll labels (best for production lines)
Stickers come on a long continuous roll, peelable from a release liner. Each sticker can be the same design or sequentially numbered.
**Best for:**
- Bottle/jar labels (cosmetics, food & beverage, supplements)
- Box seal labels
- Product certification stickers ("Organic", "Fair Trade", batch numbers)
- Anything that runs through an automatic labeling machine
**Cost:** Per-piece cost is the lowest of all three formats. 1,000 roll labels (white BOPP, 2"x3" rectangle): about $85 ($0.085 each). At 5,000: $185 ($0.037 each). Setup cost amortizes hard.
**Material options:** White semi-gloss paper (cheapest, for indoor boxes), white BOPP (durable plastic, water-resistant), clear BOPP (see-through), foil (silver, gold, holographic), eggshell, bright silver.
Die-cut singles (best for marketing giveaways)
Each sticker is on its own individual backing, ready to peel and stick.
**Best for:**
- Conference giveaways and swag bags
- Skateboard/laptop stickers for fans
- Promo packs sent with online orders
- Limited-edition designer collaborations
**Cost:** 1,000 die-cut singles (3x3 vinyl): about $180 ($0.18 each). At 5,000: $590 ($0.118 each). Higher per-piece than roll labels because each piece requires individual handling.
**Material:** Always vinyl for outdoor/laptop durability. Holographic and metallic options available.
Sticker sheets (the cheap middle ground)
Multiple stickers on a single sheet, kiss-cut so users peel individual stickers off.
**Best for:**
- Variety packs (5-10 different designs on one sheet)
- Trade show giveaways where 1 sheet = 1 person gets 6 stickers
- Influencer/social media promo packs
- Internal team stickers (one sheet per employee)
**Cost:** 500 sheets with 6 stickers each = 3,000 stickers total for about $245 ($0.082 per sticker). Cheapest per-sticker option if you can use the variety format.

Custom die shapes
All three formats support custom shapes (your logo silhouette, your bottle profile). Custom dies add a $50-150 one-time setup fee but are the same per-piece cost afterward.
Standard shapes (rectangle, circle, oval, rounded rectangle, square) are free.
